Israel-Hamas War: Gigi Hadid to Malala Yousafzai, celebs come out in support of Palestine

Nearly 7,000 people have lost their lives in the Israel-Gaza war that began after Hamas targeted a music festival and several border villages October 7. Of the 200 people held hostage, Hamas has freed four individuals so far. Several global agencies including the United Nations have warned of a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Even as the aid trucks cross over from Egypt in the strife-torn region, the Gaza health ministry says that over 5,000 people have been killed in the series of attacks launched by Israel in retaliation to the October 7 events.

Soon after Hamas attacked Israel, the country went into war saying that it will end Hamas. Israel launched a series of rockets onto the Gaza strip after it warned civilians to evacuate the city.

Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid

The supermodel sisters, Bella and Gigi Hadid have been actively speaking in support of the Palestinian cause. Mohamed Hadid, their father, is a Palestinian–Jordanian real estate developer. The Hadid sisters have been in support of the Palestinian cause.

Gigi Hadid posted on her Instagram story saying, “I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it’s a responsibility I hold daily.”

Bella Hadid also posts on her Instagram account. She has a series of stories in her highlights which says ‘Free Palestine’.

John Cusack

The American actor and producer, John Cusack condemned the war stating that innocent Israeli and Palestinian children were being killed in the attack. However, in his posts on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, John Cusack said, “Cease fire – save lives now”

Inhumanity cannot be acceptable in any notion of civilization. Nothing can excuse the inhumanity imposed by Israel even in the face of Hamas insanity. I don’t know any other way to say it . This carnage must stop. I say it – in solidarity with the Israeli and Palestinians…

Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai posted a video on X expressing her solidarity with Palestinian people. The caption of the video she shared read, “A Palestinian child should be sitting in a classroom, not in rubble”

Zayn Malik

The British musician, Zayn Malik shared a UNICEF report on his X account which informed the public about Palestinian children who have been killed in the conflict.

I stand with the Palestinian people. My heart aches for the families who have lost loved ones. We can not stand as silent witnesses to children being orphaned and murdered and not demand for the human rights of all Palestinians! This must end. Free Palestine.

Gigi and Bella Hadid have been regularly voicing their opinions on Israel’s action against Palestinians. They have frequently participated in peace protests and posting on social media. They have vocalised their support for the cause, alongside their father, who is also very active.
